The Old Glenmark Vicarage provides a unique venue for functions and events including weddings, celebrations, corporate and private occasions, a large open plan kitchen offers a great space for cooking lessons, with a wood-fired pizza oven in the garden.

Hire The Vicarage Barn for your party or a corporate offsite. Celebrate your unique wedding on the Vicarage lawns, in our orchard or vineyard. With two choices of reception areas, either marque on the main lawn or small marque to enclose the Barn veranda. Enjoy your own garden party in the orchard. Find many and varied places for a unique photoshoot.

Centrally located, we are within easy distance of the local wineries and attractions, 45 minutes to Christchurch and the international airport, one hour to Hanmer Springs and one hour 45 minutes to Kaikoura.

The Old Glenmark Vicarage Weddings

 

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, a very special time for you and your family. Below is some information on The Old Glenmark Vicarage and options for the venue, accommodation, photos, wine and support for weddings.  We would be pleased to discuss any of this with you.

 

We are The Old Glenmark Vicarage a historic landmark in the heart of the Waipara Wine Valley.  Built in 1906, The Vicarage is a beautiful example of turn of the century architecture set amongst 18 acres of established trees, garden, orchard and our boutique vineyard. 

 

Areas we support weddings are:

 

1. Venue
   There is a selection of sites around the property for you to consider as a venue for the wedding and/or celebrations pre/post wedding including The Vicarage Homestead, The Vicarage Barn, established gardens, orchard and vineyard. We will support yourself and/or wedding planners/caterers to ensure everything meets our agreed requirements. Pets are welcome. 

 

1. Accommodation
   We offer accommodation in both The Vicarage Homestay and Vicarage Barn.  The Vicarage Homestay is in the century-old Vicarage and has 2 rooms with king-size beds, modern en-suites, private entrances.  The Vicarage Barn is fully self-contained with a unique quirky personality, modern facilities, private spa-pool, outdoor swimming pool, bar area, fully equipped kitchen, bbq, fire-pit, various lounge and sitting areas. Two bedrooms upstairs both rooms have 1 King bed and 1 single bed, with an idyllic setting overlooking vineyard and fields. Farm fresh breakfast and wine options are available for both self-catering and full service.

 

1. Pre-wedding preparation and pre/post-wedding celebrations
   Both bride and grooms parties have used The Vicarage Barn and Homestay before and on the day to prepare for their wedding.  There is plenty of room and facilities for you to get ready and for hairdressers, make-up etc.  Past wedding groups have also used The Barn for a more casual venue for a bar-b-que/get together/party the days before or following the wedding.  It has also been used for hens nights and pre-wedding celebrations.

 

1. Photos
   The Vicarage, Barn and established grounds provide beautiful sites for photos with established gardens and interesting historic, rustic, vineyard and rural shots. We can put you in contact with 2 local photographers you might like to use. 

 

1. Wine
   We have a boutique vineyard and distinctive hand-crafted wines.  Some of our trio of wines must be included in your wedding package minimum 1 case:
              The Wicked Vicar – A lingering Chardonnay old vintages only

                  The Vicars Mistress – A lively Pinot Noir

                  The Divine Daughter – A delicious Riesling

Indicative prices

• Full use of the grounds - $1500 per day for the event.  This assumes:

  • Arrival after midday and depart midday on your final day. Or another time by arrangement.

  • Hire of the barn for accommodation extra.

  • You will clean-up the Barn, kitchen and grounds to a reasonable standard and removal of bottles and rubbish. This depends on the spaces used.

  • All breakages will be charged at cost in addition.
     

• Port-a-loo hire – there is one toilet in The Barn, and one outdoor wheelchair toilet.  Depending on the number of guests, you will need to provide additional port-a-loos.  One option is Smiths Hire which is at the top end of Marshlands Road before you get onto the motorway.  Hire used to be about $100 - $150, would need to check up on latest prices.  Their phone number is: 03 323 8029.
   

• Barn Accommodation tariff is $250 per night for 2 pax and $40 for each extra person. There are 2 rooms available in the house, both rooms have king-size beds, private en-suite and entrances so the guests can easily join the wedding. Rooms are set up with in-room Continental Breakfast. Tariff $250 for a couple.

• Caravan/tent/campervan sites - $30 per person.  Note these are unpowered sites around the property as fits in best with your wedding plans, and includes full use of the pools etc.  As discussed, guests will use the port-a-loos that will be there for the wedding.
   

• We would be pleased for you to enjoy our wine and require minimum 1 case to be purchased as part of your wedding plans. 5% discount on case lots.   The wines available and standard costs are:

  • The Wicked Vicar, Chardonnay - $35

  • The Vicar's Mistress, Pinot Noir - $35

  • The Divine Daughter, Riesling - $23

  • The Divine Daughter Reserve Riesling - $30 

  • Late harvest, Riesling- $25

• You are welcome to come to view the property and taste the wine.  Please give us a call first to arrange a mutually convenient time.

• Payments via bank transfer preferred if by credit card a 3% fee will apply for card payment.
